Named one of the top 40 filmmakers under 40, Anjali’s directing work has been supported by Cinereach,
Sundance, and Tribeca, have screened at TIFF, IDFA and Hot Docs, and won countless awards, jury prizes, gone
theatrical, and been commissioned and acquired by Netflix and Amazon.
Anjali just finished Hack Your Health (streaming April 26, 2024), a feature-length Netflix Original with plenty of
quirky stop-motion wool animation, and is now in production on Golden, with the Golden State Warriors’
senior dance team (think Cheer with 70-year-olds). In 2021 she released the fantasy short musical film Closer,
which has more than 5 million views and won the audience award for the Prism Prize.
Anjali has directed commercials for multiple brands such as Chipotle, Patagonia, MEC, Amazon, Southern
Company, the San Diego Zoo and Acer Computers. She is in development on two scripted projects, a feature
South Asian superhero flick and a dark true crime horror short.
Prior to filmmaking, Anjali did her master’s at the University of Oxford in climate change and a graduate degree
in space science at the International Space University. Anjali also has an MS in documentary from Columbia’s
Graduate School of Journalism. Anjali was a foreign correspondent based in Nairobi for a decade, where she
reported for Reuters and the BBC.
Anjali is a member of the Directors Guild of America and on its 2023/2024 WSC’s “Squad,” the Directors Guild
of Canada, the Writers Guild of Canada and the Canadian Academy. She is not signed to a production company
for commercial representation. Outside of work-things, Anjali played soccer nationally and semi-professionally,
is an avid surfer and loves lavender macarons. Originally from Montreal, Anjali is now based in Los Angeles.
