Tamika Miller is a passionate storyteller who began her career as a line producer and production supervisor for television commercials and high-profile music videos, including major brands such as Bank of America, Target, Verizon, Toyota, American Express and Old Navy, and has lent her skills to music videos for artists such as Christina Aguilera.

A director, producer and writer currently living in Los Angeles, California, Tamika’s production experience and tremendous attention to detail has contributed to her success as a filmmaker. Tamika made her film debut with a short narrative she wrote and directed titled Gift for the Living, starring Cannes Special Jury Prize winning actress Irma P. Hall (Ladykillers), with voice over by actress Vanessa Williams (New Jack City, Soul Food). Gift for the Living won the Showtime Black Filmmaker Showcase Grand Prize and continues to air on the Showtime Cable Network. Furthermore, it went on to participate in numerous film festivals around the world, and won the Outfest Audience Award for Outstanding Short Narrative.

Tamika’s subsequent short narrative, Sarang Song, won the San Francisco Black Film Festival Award for Best Short and can also be seen on the Showtime Cable Network as well as MTV Logo, and is currently distributed by Wolfe Video.

Steven Spielberg chose Tamika as 1 of 50 finalists, out of a record-setting 12,000 submissions from around the world, to compete in his series, On the Lot. As a finalist, Tamika garnered herself a First Look deal with DreamWorks.

In Hillary Clinton’s first presidential bid, the Clinton campaign chose a commercial spec written and directed by Tamika as 1 of 5 finalists, from hundreds of submissions, as a candidate to air during a CNN/YouTube Democratic debate.

Impressed with Tamika’s fresh perspective and creative storytelling, here! Network acquired and developed Tamika’s original series Gris-Gris Girls– a half-hour comedic series about five women juggling career and romance in New Orleans.

Tamika was named to the Board of Directors of OUTFEST – the leading organization showcasing, nurturing and preserving lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender film images. Tamika proudly served on the Board for six years.

Tamika produced Glamour Magazine‘s annual Women of the Year tribute films honoring Maria Shriver, Maya Angelou, Stella McCartney and Amy Poehler, to name a few. In addition to producing 10 films for Glamour, Tamika directed films for honorees Serena Williams and Grammy Award winning artist Rihanna. Furthermore, she interviewed tennis champion Venus Williams, Academy-Award winning actor Jamie Foxx, freed journalists Euna Lee and Laura Ling, and actress/comedienne Maya Rudolph. The films aired during Glamour Magazine’s annual awards ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Tamika produced Crepe Covered Sidewalks, a riveting documentary of actress Renee’ Wilson’s (Ray) return home to the devastation and desolation of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and the effects the aftermath had on her and her family – several years after the storm.

Tamika continues to hone her skills as a director and writer. Her most recent film, /smōkd/, is a powerful short narrative that tackles the timely subject of police brutality through the eyes of twelve grand jurors deliberating the fate of a police officer. /smōkd/ won the 2017 Reel Sisters Film Festival Award for Best Short Narrative, and can be seen at numerous film festivals around the world.

Tamika is currently developing her feature film UNDERCARD. A gifted filmmaker, Tamika is a tremendous talent and truly a triple threat.
